Weaving Workshop / RAG RUGS
Experience weaving on a traditional floor loom in a textile weaving studio!
I provide everything. The looms are ready. Just bring yourself and your love of textiles. No prior weaving experience necessary.
*Bring FABRIC SCRAPS you'd like to weave with if you have them. Please let me know ahead of time if you are arriving without any materials.
**Bring your favourite fabric SCISSORS if you have them.
These workshops run about 4 to 5 hours and will provide you an opportunity to weave on a traditional floor loom, play with a classic weave draft in a graphic black and white, and inject colours and textures into your design.
You may come away with a beautiful wall hanging or a rag rug.
Or, you may wish to enjoy the hours without the concern of a take away product, up to you.
I’ll provide tea/coffee/snacks.
This workshop is designed for 1 or 2 students at a time with the possibility of making one 22"x 32" or two smaller pieces if you and another weaver are both weaving a piece.
Allow at least 4 to 5 hours.
May run up to 6 hours with two weavers.
If you are bringing fabric scraps I recommend making some fabric strips ahead of time. I'll help make more once you're set up on the loom.
About 1 1/2" strips, or 2 1/2" or 3" are fine and thicknesses can vary. They will look cool in the finished piece. Swipe through the photos for examples.
